Good digestion is crucial to health. The aim of the IBS Clinic is to correct the underlying physical problems and nutritional imbalances which lead to IBS, enabling the sufferer to cope much better with stressful situations.

Irritable bowel syndrome is now a very common condition, with many GPs only able to prescribe symptom control without much advice as to how to approach the problem effectively. The symptoms of this condition can be very distressing to the extent that many sufferers avoid social situations due to fear of embarrassment.

IBS develops as a result of lifestyle issues that lead to prolonged periods of stress, such as a death in the family, pressure at work, family demands, relationship difficulties or financial problems.

During this period of stress the body produces adrenaline to increase energy enabling the person to cope with the problems. However, one side effect is to shut down digestion. Over a period of time undigested food passes into the bowel leading to a lack of good bacteria and the development of food intolerances. The nutritional status of the person becomes depleted and they experience tiredness making them more prone to stress.

The role of the clinic is to provide information and resources with which the IBS sufferer can restore their confidence and health.
